MILL TOURS
Daniel Cragin (owner 1850-1901) and
Whitney Frye's (owner 1909-1960) original water-power system and
boxmaking machinery dating from the 1850's can be seen in operation
on our mill tours; conducted June through October at 2pm on Saturdays.
Former owner (1961-1981) and master boxmaker Harland Savage brings
the past alive as he reminisces on his working years with Whitney
Frye, demonstrates early woodworking and carding machinery, and
completes the 1 1/2 hour tour with a visit upstairs to the old mill
print shop. Reservations are recommended.
Antique fire trucks and firefighting
apparatus can be viewed across the mill yard in the mill garage,
while throughout the summer and fall, special demonstrations in
blacksmithing and tinsmithing are scheduled at the Frye Mill Forge.
